Mermaids – another mythical creature that is a perfect choice for body art. They are like the fairies of the sea. Although these mythical creatures are beautiful and serene looking, the legends and stories surrounding mermaids were not always pleasant. Folklore also depicts them as creatures of the deep that would lure sailors to their death with their siren song. Squeezing the life out of drowning sailors they were supposed to be rescuing. This is a beautiful composition combining the two mermaids in a circle – almost a ying-yang effect especially with the color and black and white combination. Liorcifer – it evokes your curiosity just based on the name of this artist. He was recently listed as one of the top 100 artist by Skin Deep and after viewing his work one his website – Liorcifer.com . He began his tattoo career in his native country of Israel. He did his first apprenticeship there but eventually landed in Queens New York. Then he had the opportunity to do his second apprenticeship under the King of Horror – Paul Booth . Liorcifer’s work is dark and the emphasis is on horror – although I love this Escher piece also. He specializes in black and grey. When you view his portfolio you can see the Paul Booth influence for sure. After finishing his apprenticeship, he worked at Last Rites Tattoo for 6 years. This story has risen again. A father who held his 7 year old son down while a a fellow gang member tattooed a gang symbol on the boy’s hip. The father and tattooer are members of the Fresno Bulldogs, a well-known street gang. The family say the boy asked for the tattoo and it was not againt his will. The reason the story is being resurrected is the Judge had allowed the gang members to plead down to lesser charges, and that did not st well with a California prosecutor. The prosecutor is refiling aggravated mayem charges against the kid’s father and buddy. Related posts: Gang Tattoos and Meaning Tattooed by Daughter Father, Son Bonding

I stumbled upon this female tattoo artist via a small example in a tattoo magazine. But that was enough for me to look for her work in ernest. She started her career in graphic design and that soon developed into the tattoo trade. She started out doing tattoo parties in Virginia, West Virginia, D.C., PA and New York. These days, she owns her own shop Boomtown Tattoo located in West Virginia. If you do a search in Google images under her name you will see some great examples such as this piece. The color is vivid and has that wonderful 3d coming off the skin effect. I am definately a fan now! Tattoo Barbie – kicking up a storm with parents. Some parents feel that this doll creates a bad role model for their daughters. Putting the pretend tattoos on their bodies may encourage their little waifs to get tattoos as soon as they are old enough to ride their tricycle down to the local parlor. It may even encourage them to wear skimpy clothes to show off those cute new tattoos. We just can’t have that! It is it me or is is time that parents started raising their kids instead of every outside influence being scrutinized and critized. Society is full of sexual overtones that for some reason Americans can’t deal with. For a forward thinking country on most topics, when it comes to sex we have some big handups. We do have freedom of choice. Don’t buy this Barbie for your kid if you really think it’ll ruin their life. Hopefully, their upbringing will have the final say in how these kids turn out when they grow up. Related posts: Tattoo Barbie Tramp Stamp on Barbie Tattoo Age Limit?

I just read about a bit of movie memorabilia was going up for auction. It’s the miniature metal skeleton that was used in the 1933 movie. It was only used for one scene – the one where Kong climbs the Empire State Building. The 1933 movie, King Kong, used groundbreaking special effects for that time. So the Kong story leads me into a related subject – for a good cause. This tattoo is done by a good friend, Lisa Fasulo . They are supporters of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund International. She has a program titled the Endangered Ink Project which has raised over $8000 for Gorilla Fund International. Visit Lisa’s site to read more about it. Learn how you can help protect this intelligent and unique creature. If you happen to miss this view of Kat after she has (or should I saw a group of men) have covered her with a tattoo concealer product that Sephora now carries. The only problem I have is the lighting that they use. It seem too full of shadows to really get an idea of how the product would work say – under bright sunlight. Still seems like a good product for people that may need to cover up a little something for their jobs or whatever other reasons you may have for choosing to hide your ink. I ‘ve thought about a Mick and Keith tattoo for myself considering I’ve been a huge fan for years. After seeing this great rendition of Keith – well, it’s got my on that train of thought once again. This piece of art was done by Jay Arellano of Burley Fish Tattoo and Piercing located in Flagstaff Arizona. I thought it was a good choice as far as pose – has that cocky, non-conformist tilt to his head. Related posts: Tattoo My Brain Sex Anyone? Who Needs a Toupee?
